Author's Profile

Mrs.Vanaja Rajan, is a graduate in Arts, from the University of Mysore, (Maharani’s Arts College for women ,batch 1958-59). Initially for almost a decade, she took lot of interest in the programmes aired by All India Radio, Bangalore, by writing scripts on a variety of subjects, children’s plays. She did many features on a variety of issues ranging from Nutrition, Educating children in protecting Environment, Consumer protection, & on Social Welfare organisations like “Seva Sadan” & “Abhayashram” etc., to name a few. She has also undertaken many assignments from Govt., & Public Sector undertakings in translating their Annual Reports from English to Kannada to be presented to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. After shifting to Mumbai, she worked as a Senior Educational Consultant for “Lotus Learning (P) Ltd”. She was also an active member & President of the Mahila wing of the Navi Mumbai Kannada Sangha, Chair-person of the Cultural & Entertainment Committee & Editor of the News Magazine of the Navi Mumbai Kannada Sangha contributing regularly articles on various topics. She has to her credit, production of two Dance Dramas, “Karnataka Bhavya Parampare” & “Bharata Darshana” Scripted, & directed by her. She has also travelled a lot around the world and has written a travelogue titled “Kannina Anchinalli Poorva - Paschima”, narrating experiences of her visit to USA, Bhutan, & Singapore. She participated in “Purandara Dasa day” conducted by the Kannadigas at Singapore & received a Momento. She has recently translated a book into Kannada for the ‘Sound & Picture Archive for Research On Women’ (SPARROW), Mumbai. She is also actively associated with “Little World” (www.littleworldrtnagar.tripod.com), whose activities are service oriented in areas like Social, Cultural, Intellectual, Environmental & Humanitarian. She is presently the Programme Director of “The Little World”, at R.T.Nagar, Bangalore, which is providing a platform for all the young talents in the field of Music & Dance.
